Translated Fiction
Translated fiction are stories that were originally written in one language that have been translated into other languages to appeal to a larger audience.
Originally these stories were translated so people from different countries would be able to enjoy them as well but now we’ve realised that they have a second use.
Translated fiction is great for language learning as well!
Why Translated Fiction Is So Useful
You might ask well why bother with translated fiction? Why not just read a book that was written in another language originally?
That’s because books that were just written in their original language are normally a lot more difficult to understand.
Where as a translated book will be written in language that is a bit more accessible.
Also you can read stories that you have read before so are already familiar with but in another language.
If you have already read a book and you try to read it in Russian, you’re going to be able to understand a lot of the context even if you can’t understand every single word.
This will help you with your comprehension as you will be able to work out what some of the words mean by the context provided.
Most Popular Translated Fiction For Language Learners
Harry Potter
Harry Potter is probably the more popular piece of translated fiction for people who are using these books to learn a foreign language.
Once you’ve mastered the magical vocabulary, the language in a Harry Potter book is relatively simple as it was written with young adults in mind.
In addition to that, most people know the stories so well that they can understand the context even if they don’t understand everything that’s being said.
If you’re looking for a familiar book in a foreign language then we would definitely recommend Harry Potter to start with.
