How To Choose An Electronic Translator
So we’ve managed to convince you that an electronic translator is worth it, now it’s just time to work out which model is right for you and how to go about choosing the best device.
We’ve compiled a list of what we believe to be the best translator devices here. We have selected ones that are more cost effective and ones that are more expensive. And broken down reasons as to why we think these models are the best ones currently available.
However when choosing an electronic translator, there are certain things you should consider.
Price Of The Device
The price is a big factor. When these devices first came out they were pretty expensive and some of the models still are. If price isn’t an option and you can opt for one of the more expensive ones then your focus may be more on quality. However if price is an issue for you then make sure you shop around because some models cost over $100 and some are closer to $30.
Two-Way Or One-Way Translation
Another important factor is whether it has two way translation or not. Some of the devices only come with a one way translation which means you can speak English into it and it will translate into the other language, but someone couldn’t speak the other language and expect it to be translated back to English. Try and think what you’re buying it for and work out whether two-way translation is important for you or not. For most situations we would think it would be necessary to find a device that offered two-way translation and that it’s even worth your money to pay a bit more for this. Otherwise you’re going to be having very one sided conversations.
How Many Languages Can They Translate
This is a big one! How many languages can the device translate. If you’re just going to one country and that is the reason you’re buying the device then this one may not be as important to you. However, if you’re planning a big trip around lots of different countries or you want to use the electronic translator on more than one occasion you may want to think about how many and which languages your device is compatible with.
How Big It Is
They say size isn’t important but in this case it is. The fact we use them when we’re travelling and space is a premium is what makes size so important here. You don’t want to be travelling around a city or country lugging a heavy translator around that you can only keep in your bag. Since you don’t know when you’ll need to pull it out and ask someone a question you want something that doesn’t weigh a lot and fits neatly in your pocket so you can keep it with you at all times.
You can also look into where to buy them. Some great places you can buy electronic translators from include:
